I live in Oakland, California’s Laurel District and will share my love of East Oakland’s history with seven First Saturday Tours from March to September. We enjoyed our March, 9 perambulation around Laurel Grove. On Saturday, April 6, we’ll have a look at at Key Route Heights and learn how it transformed into today’s Laurel District. We’ll trace the neighborhood’s roots to the Native American presence in the hills above us and their quarries
